What is rub in amd?

Rub in AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) is a form of the disease in which the affected individual develops "dry" AMD. This type of AMD is characterized by the presence of yellow deposits of lipid and protein, called drusen, in the retina. Rubbing or massaging the eyes is not believed to cause AMD, but it can potentially worsen its symptoms or damage the retina. In contrast to the "wet" form of AMD, where abnormal blood vessels grow into the retina and leak fluid, dry AMD progresses more slowly and usually affects central vision first. Symptoms may include blurry or distorted vision, difficulty seeing in low light, and eventually, blind spots in the central visual field. Although there is no cure for dry AMD, preventative measures such as proper nutrition, smoking cessation, and regular eye exams can help reduce the risk of developing the disease, slow its progression, or manage its symptoms.
